Hello!

Allow me to start off by saying that JEvents is awesomesauce!!!!!

My questions is:
If my JEvent calendar has a set of events listed on it (previously imported from an .ics file), but a front end user then proceeds to import a new .ics file that contains a variation-- the calendar has certain events deleted-- can the JEvent calendar also then delete those events upon new import, as specified by the new .ics file?
Hello buxster,

Great to hear

Not from a frontend import, this is an update procedure / insert. So if an ics event exists and it's got the same UID then it will update it.

If you create a new JEvents 'Calendar' from url, then this will force a refresh, removing events that do not exist within the ical.

Many thanks
Tony

tonyp,

Thank you for the reply.

I tried doing the url import, but it does not work. it says it pulls in 0 events. Is there a setting to enable it?

Hello,

Is your file a valid iCal file? can you provide a copy here?

Many thanks

Providing link below (on the private site details)! Thanks Tonyp!

Just to confirm, I am trying to upload a URL so to delete files on the front end on the Jevents.

Does it look okay?

I've supplied two export urls. I tried the ics URL for import too; however, it does not delete as needed.

Hello,

Are you on JEvents V3.4.48? I just imported that url and successfully imported 96 events.

Many thanks

Hello tonyp,

I am on v3.4.48. I did a test:
1. in an outlook calendar, i added an event.
2. i imported the event to the jevent calendar, via frontend .ics upload. the new event was displayed.
3. in the outlook calendar, i deleted the event.
4. i attempted to import via url (html path) as well as import via url (to the .ics path); however both failed with 0 events imported.
5. i then imported the .ics file itself, and the calendar was updated; however the deleted event still remains on the jevents calendar.

Is there a setting perhaps that I have toggled to off perhaps?

Hello Buster,

So to allow deleting of events you would need to import from URL since it deletes all events in that feed that no longer exist with that feed. I can't see how you are getting 0 events imported, that's saying the feed is reporting zero.

If you ware wanting me to take a look into your system if you join the silver club I'll login and run some debugging until we can get it resolved, see if your feed is producing zero events when called by a specific service and so on.

Many thanks
Tony

Hello tonyp,

Does that URL import need to end with a .html? or is it the .ics path?

Hello,

Nope it doesn't as long as it provides a .ics file.

Many thanks
