Event Registration Closes Before Close Date

The registration for our event has closed before the close date entered. The Close Registration Date is in April, however no one can currently sign up for the event as it shows a "Registrations are now closed" message on the event page. Any idea why this might have happened or how to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
