I've used the 'free' version of the JEvents plug-in for the past few months on a test version of a website I have built and manage for a non-profit Egyptology group I'm involved with, and since it's the start of a new season, I have decided to update the live version of the site with JEvents (I can give the link to our site if it is necessary). I would like to use the event calendar to list the events of the group itself, but since we have links with a number of external organisations (such as local museums), and have been asked to promote exhibitions and courses, I would like to know if it is possible to 'trap' any pass-through clicks if we were to put event markers on our calendar. That way, we could perhaps advise the external courses, groups, etc., of what effect having the event on site has been (and potentially get some sort of remuneration for the link, in the same way it's possible to derive income from links to those various popular book- and music-seller sites).

If it is not possible at any of the membership levels, of course, it might be something that you might wish to develop for a future version of JEvents.

Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like an interesting idea. Most of what you want to do can be done already - if you used the silver member managed resources/people addon you could create entries for your external organisations with descriptions, pictures, contact details, maps AND a link to their site. You could then associate the events with the relevant organisation or person.

The piece that is missing is the link click tracking. Looking online it appears we may be able to do that using Google Analytics - see https://support.google.com/analytics/an ... 6920?hl=en - If you think that approach would work for you then we can probably add it into the managed people addon codebase

Geraint,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I had thought of the silver membership for all that that allows. I currently don't have a Google Analytics account for the site, but that does sound a good idea, and then I can see where that takes the site. I'll have to follow that up, so thanks for that idea. And I'd certainly be interested in seeing that facility added into the JEvents addons code-base, especially since my PHP programming skills are poor compared to VBA.
