Hello,

I'm about to start a big project (at least big for me), and have 3 questions that are really really important. My biggest concern is a day view with these features:

1) every event represented by an uploaded image. Is there such a way? An image with name of the event over it in the day view?

2) this is truly crucial: is there a way for JEvents to control today's events so with every refreshing of 'today' view it indicates which events took place already, which are taking place at the moment and which will start later today? I'm not interested in hiding today's ended events, I'm interested in marking them with a CSS class, so I'm able to style them (fo instance turning images of the ended events into grey). To put it shortly: can JEvents recognize while loading current day view past, present and future events and mark them with different classes?

And I don't mean JEvents core, I'm not that naive, I mean with a help of plugins available in silver or gold subscription plan. Please tell me it's possible without the need of creating additional javascripts and I'm in heaven.

Kindest regards

Olek
Hello Olek,

Welcome to JEvents!

1) If you use the Standard Image and Files plugin then yep, absolutely you just wrap the image tag in a event link start and end tags :-) Jevents is fully customisable with the Layout editor and custom format strings for the modules.

2) So to confirm, how would you set this, i.e. is it the event start/end time or an event registration start/end time?

Of course it's all perfectly possible, I'm just trying to ascertain if we can do it with the native core :-)

Many thanks
Tony

Hi Tony, thank you for your prompt answer.

As for the 1st question: perfect, I got it! Checked.

As for the second - I won't be using event registration at all - I don't need this functionality. I just want to mark today's events - if they are alread ended, or they are taking place right at the time of visiting my page, or they will start in a few minutes/hours this very day. If system could check and mark events with different CSS classes as ended, in progress or future events, I'd probably drown in my own happiness.

The idea is for a guest to visit the site and see the timeline with today's events - what he/she missed and where to go to attend events that are still to start later on. I want to accomplish it with styling these event classes so it will be obvious at first glance.

And I will buy gold supscription no matter what, as it allows us for 12 months of support.

Sooo... is such auto-marking events possible with any of your club extensions without the need of additional programming?

Hello,

It is certainly possible without a doubt. We also do have the event countdown tag.

What we could do if provide instructions on how to do a check per row for instance on the list view and add the classes for 'now, past, future'. Once we know exactly the idea of implementation you want it done we can provide a more specific response and how to do this in the club forums :-).

Many thanks

Update:

I've just spoke with the team and we could add the classes:

jev_past
jev_now
jev_future

to the rows/cells to the core if you wanted us too.

Many thanks

This is simply AWESOME. Right now I estimate costs of the whole project and wanted to know if JEvents with Gold subscription plan will let me achieve all that I want. Well - it certainly will!

This week we'll have a meeting and - thanks to you - I will be able to describe the whole solution and expenses, so the accountants can approve budget and then I'm ready to buy the gold club subscription and start working on the project.

Does adding these classes involve extra costs?

Thank you once again, Tony.

I'll come back to this request right after we buy the subscription. I can't tell you exactly when it will be, but hopefully really soon, as the project is quite urgent.

Kindest regards,

Olek
