Persian Translation
by shamgo » Fri Mar 08, 2013 11:34 pm
Hi,
I created a fa-IR_JEvent_J25.zip using the Spanish package as a template.
I am using JEvent 3.0.7 and Joomla 3.0.
I successfully installed the package in Joomla and my fa-IR.com_jevents.ini is showing under language/fa-IR directory.
Should I see my default calendar in Persian now? The months and days of the week are still showing up in English. Am I missing something?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Joomla! translations are located in two directories:
<Your Joomla Site>/languages
<Your Joomla Site>/administrator/languages
Move fa-IR.com_jevents.ini to "<Your Joomla Site>/languages" directory and you should see your default calendar in Persian.

Thank you for the answer.
As far as I know in Joomla 3, translations go under
<Joomla home>/language/fa-IR directory, and as I mentioned in my original post, I made sure my translation file named fa-IR.com_jevents.ini was there.
I have created a monthly calendar for Persian, but everything is still in English.

Try rename fa-IR.com_jevents.ini to en-GB.com_jevents.ini and copy this file to <Joomla home>/language/en-GB and see what will happen.

Thanks. Actually it turned out I had a few mistakes in the language file itself. Debug language in the system global configuration is a great help.

One more thing. My day numbers on the calendar and my date and times are still showing in English. Can someone point me to the right direction as to how I can display these in Persian? Thanks.

Are you using a Persian translation for Joomla itself? Has this set the locale correctly in the XML config file?
Does your server support the Persian locale? We use the core php strftime functions to format dates in many places.

I am pretty new to Joomla, so I might be missing something obvious here. All I can tell you is that everything else on the Persian site looks good, and it is only the numbers and dates that are not working.
The days and months on the monthly calendar translate just fine.

Can you please attach to the forum the persian translation? This way I might take a look and see if there are any problems with it and even create an installation package so that you can install it easily without worrying about where to put the files.
Also would you be interested in becoming our Persian/Farsi translator?

Certainly. This is the zip file for Site only.
I'd be happy to help out as time permits.
