Gold, yearly price?
by brononi » Thu Feb 07, 2013 4:38 pm
Hey,
I'm building a site where it's very important to have extra's for our members. One of the reasons why they should become member of our non-profit organisation, should be the website (extra articles, extra features...).
One of the things i was thinking is the calendar with extra features (fe mail notification). Do you have other features that could explain why i should buy a membership (i need to get this approve by the board of directive (?) ).
Is it correct when i say that we'll need to puy the memship yearly? Or is this only for the support?

Membership gives you access to the downloads area and support - so when you membership expires you can carry on using what you already have installed but will loose access to updates and support.
There are a lot of available club addons - see the Produts menu item above for some examples. There are quite a few others available (see http://www.jevents.net/downloads) e.g. links to newsletter addons, interaction with Facebook, JomSocial, Community Builder etc.
If you could describe what your site is aiming to achieve we may be able to suggest which addons would be a good fit.

I'll give it a try.
Our non-profit organisation lives by it's members. We are focussed on political motorcycle topics (in dutch a lobby society, no idea how to translate that). In Belgium, we've got about 350.000 motorcycle drivers. And 5.000 are member of our organisation. How more members, how stronger we stand towards politici if they vote a stupid (anti-motorcycle) law. So the goal is to have as much motorcycles as possible to become a member.
Since some years, i'm using jevents as a kind of public calendar where everybody can post his 'motorcycle-based' event. Moderated by one person since we want to keep it only motorcycle related (trips, events, meeting, swaps...). The end goal is to have a central calendar in Belgium. Of course, this should stay like this. It's a good way to pull people to our site.
2 years ago, this was a real hot topic on our site. But since the last year, no more effort has been put in the site (mea culpa). So i'm building a complete new site (with joomla 3). In this site, our members should have a lot of extra features. And i want to give jevent a big central place in the extra features.

I'm thinking of:

- Promotion of our own events (fe meetings)
- Facebook post/like?
- Hide event details for non members (or only intro words?)

Event reminder by mail
RSVP Pro (gold member addon) - also new event notifications may be interesting to you
Special categories
Promotion of our own events (fe meetings)
You can use email newsletters to include lists of upcoming events.
Facebook post/like?
There is a facebook share/like plugin and also a plugin to push your events to Faceook as a facebook event.
Hide event details for non members (or only intro words?)
User specific events plugin can do this.
Also for committee meetings etc. you could invitee attendees to meetings and make the meetings private to the invitees only

Grrr, Paypal...
We're not the best friends. I don't like their way of working/verifications. But I've restarted our confirmation sessions. So once this is completed (2~3 days?), you can expect my order...

In most countries you can just use Paypal as a normal credit card processor - no need to join. There should be a link you can click on the landing page for the payment.

I 'had' paypal. They introduced in 2009 a new 'confirmation way', and they asked me a copy of my 'passport'. And since I already have an account, I can't create a second one.
I don't agree with this kind of verfications. Giving all my personal (&financial) information to company other then my bank? Not a good idea these days.
But I see that they now offer also another way to verify my account...
So I hope I can reactivate my account by tomorrow and place the order.

OMG
Paypal sucks big time. I needed to do a payment with them, so i could give them a verification code and blablablala. And at the end? My account is still limited? They want now a copy of my passport? What's next? The code of my accounts? I opened another ticket with them in the hope that somebody (=human?) over there will help me out.
If you can send me the bank account, i'll wire the money directly that way (would already be done several days ago).

Hello,
When you click purchase the subscription just do not login, click the 'I do not have a PayPal account' underneath and then you can just enter your card details.
PayPal is basically a bank now, so as you would with opening your personal bank account they some times need passports. You wouldn't want anyone just opening an account in your name then requesting a PayPal credit card would you?
Regards
Tony

It's not a bank of my choice, so why should they force me to recieve all my personal data? I don't have any proof that they'll protect my data.
But believe it or not. After a very angry mail, they've free up my account this night?
Why is it that everytime a human must solve the issues of an automatically system. Can't this be solve automatically?
And with this, i'm now a gold member...
Time to figure out how to upgrade the package, how to configure them, how....
