Consider adding attachments to events
by jciconsult » Sun Aug 23, 2009 2:17 pm
Many times organizers would like to have PDFs or other documents associated with an event. We can, of course, do that with DOCLINK (if that worked in your system) in the text but an appropriate plugin might be useful. However, the DOCLINK plugin does not seem to work with a front-end event add.
DOCLINK shows up on the older legacy version that I am using on the CABE site. What has changed?

Is DocLink a Joomla content plugin? Perhaps the latest versions check the component and only work with com_content.
You can add files if you use the JCE editor with the file manager addon. You have tried the "people" addon I believe and have seen how this includes image uploads - I'm thinking of a small JEvents plugin that will allow you to create a standard promotional image upload and additional file uploads too. This could allow you to create advanced modules for featured events and nice layouts that take advantage of a 'standard image' for an event.

If the editor plugin not appearing? Can you check your edit events config page - there are options there to control which editor plugins are visible.

I would also like to add a Doclink tab in the events frontend. It is a Joomla plugin, part of Docman.

Is this a Joomla content plugin or an extended editor icon that appears beneath the wysiwyg editor?

I can only say that it's a plugin that gives an extra tab in JCE article edit which allows you to search the document library, point to a document and create a link.

you mean when you create a link in JCE that you can choose from docman links as well as article? Does this option not appear when you edit an event?
Or are you asking to be able to lookup events when you are editing an article to create a link.

There's no Doclink tab in Event Edit. It's not a big problem as a separate docman search can find the document and the link data can be obtained via Copy link location. It's just a bit tacky. It would be nice to have a JEvents calendar tab in article edit as well. I use Vemod for newsletter creation and point the membership at events via articles rather than a JEvents email - most newsletter articles are not about events.
