Problem with Permissions on Categories

Postby dehessijames » Sat Jan 19, 2013 8:54 pm

Hi!

I have a Problem with the permissions on categories.
I have created two categories. Both should be visible for all Users. In category A all registered users should have rights to create their own events, but in category B only a few users shoult have rights to create events. So I have created a second usergroup, added the users to the group and allowed the group to create events in category B.

Now the problem is, that the users are in the group registered to, which denies to create events in category B.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Hello Hessi,

You need to set the usergroup you want able to create events in the JEvents -> Configuration -> Permissions.

Then in the Category you do not want them to create events, set that usergroup to denied from the category permissions.

Tony

Hi Tonyp,

I think my Problem is similar to the problem in "Access Bug??".http://www.jevents.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=17289

Hi Tony,

i think my problem is the inheritance.
In the JEvents -> Configuration -> Permissions

|-Registered: allowed
|--registered_special: allaowed because of the inheritance

In the categories:

Category A (for all Registered Users) => no problem
Category B (only for special Users (registered_special))

|-Registered: disallowed
|--registered_special: disallaowed because of the inheritance
So if you try to allow it manually, there is a confilict because of the inheritance.

Hello Hessi,

You are correct.

You should have the categories the other way round. It's not logicically to give someone rights to create events to the top category but not it's child categories.

Hey Tony,

the categories are on the same level.
Registered and registered_special are the usergroups which should give the rights to the users.
