IE Save Apply Cancel on New or Edit Event above each other

Postby martinf » Tue Dec 04, 2012 5:58 pm

Hi

I just installed JEvents 2.2 and all is working great, really good bit of kit thank you.

One problem I notice is that in Internet Explorer 8 and 9, when editing or creating a new event, whether in Pop up or whole page, the Save Apply and Cancel buttons are stacked on top of each other in the middle rather than next to each other on the right hand side as they display in Chrome.

I've attached a screenshot of how it displays in IE 8/9.

Is this easy to fix? Is it a common problem or just me? I couldn't find any info in search sorry.

Hello,

This is actually likely a problem with your sites template.

Can you change your template to the Default joomla! one? beez2. Does it still happen?

Regards
Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I tried changing the default Template to Beez 2 and 5 but the same problem occurs. Chrome is fine, IE is stacked like the picture. I don't mind messing with the files if you have some code suggestions to try.

Thanks

You need to use Firebug for Firefox or the Chrome inspector to see what the CSS that is driving the layout of these icons. You could also try the MSIE developer tools but these are not as easy to use.

Thanks, I found the Culprit.

eventsadmin16.css

div.toolbar-list span {
display:block;
float:none;
height:32px;
margin:0 auto;
width:32px;
}

I just removed the 'margin:0 auto;' line and IE now displays it correctly.. not a CSS Guru so not sure what effect that will have on other things if any.

That's very interesting, that is saying 0 margin top and bottom but auto margin left and right which would mean center.

Internet explorer, is likely not picking up the set width of the box due to a slight compatibility error.

I.E. is way behind in CSS and HTML standards :(.

Thanks
Tony
