Entering event in calender view: +-sign before login
by kimborg » Fri Oct 26, 2012 1:39 am
Most users browsing a calender would typically not be logged in. So the +sign for entering a new event is hidden, and user are searching in vain for a way to enter events.
I suggest that this +sign is always visible, and that it leads to login/create account module if user is not logged in.
This is how its done in the component Room Booking http://www.margiov.altervista.org/demo/index.php?option=com_roombooking&view=bookings&id_room=1&Itemid=61. Although this calender don't have a +sign, users not logged can click any time slot for entering a booking, and are taken to login and then right to the event edit for that particular time slot.

You can create an 'add event' menu item or a module with such a link - when the user clicks this they would be prompted to login.
If you want unlogged in users to create events you could look at the anonymous user event create plugin.

I've installed and tested anonymous user plugin, and it may be the solution. Only thing is that one gets the attached error message when entering an event. When clicking ok, event is entered.

I'm sorry - I'd been doing most of my testing in Joomla 2.5+ and had not removed this diagnostic alert message from the Joomla 1.5 version
Please upgrade to version 1.4.5 which I am uploading in the next 5 minutes.
