Grouping template fields

Postby essiele » Tue Aug 14, 2012 12:51 pm

I'm creating a template in RSVP Pro to serve as a simple survey, and I though...
Wouldn't it be great If I could group the template fields according the type of questions, then place each group on its own tab?

It could be a facility that's enabled only when the Has Fees and Has Tickets booleans are false... OR there could be a boolean offering a survey layout with fields-to-group and group-to-tab options, which would disable the Has Fees and Has Tickets options when set to true.

That would be 8-) and handy, sweet and dandy.

How would this work with adding guests to event registrations since we use tabs for this at present.

Can you do a mockup or a scetch diagram to illustrate what you are talking about?

The idea is that the Add Guest facility would also be disabled. I know that's possible, as I remember having problems finding how to enable it.

Will do... unfortunately, it'll have to be tomorrow, G. I'm yet to sort my radio show out for later.

Two things that just sprung to mind are the ordering of the fields on each tab (and how) and tab titles.

I am concerned that this would be rather confusing for most users. Is your motivation that you have a long list of fields and wish to guide your visitors through the list?

What about and alternative approach - we create a 'new tab' custom field type where you give the tab label and an option of adding a 'next tab' button at the bottom. That way you can inject your tabs where you want.

Yes, it is.

That's kind of similar to my rethink...

... but your explanation more easily understood! ;)

In fact, because we can already drag and drop the fields, it would make perfect sense. That way, everything remains WYSIWYG. Well... as far as the back end is concerned, anyway.
