Override defaultviewhelperheader.php file

Hello, I have followed the instructions here http://www.jevents.net/en/jevents-15-topmenu-17/43-customising-layouts-in-jevents-15 for editing the way the calendar looks. I've been successful in over-writing the CSS. File located here: templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\geraint\assets\css\events_css.css.

For some reason I am unable to affect the view when editing the code in the file templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\geraint\helpers\geraintviewnavtablebariconic.php.

Ideally I would like to edit defaultviewhelperheader.php and assume this would actually need to be edited here templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\default\helpers\defaultviewhelperheader.php.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

For Joomla 1.6 onwards you need to work on defaultviewhelperheader16.php and remember to set these up as template overrides otherwise you'll loose your changes when you upgrade

Hi Geraint, thanks for the response. I'm still using 1.5. How can I get it to recognise the code changes I am making? It works for the CSS files...

What template override files have you created and where did you put them

geraintviewnavtablebariconic.php in:
templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\geraint\helpers\

and I would also like to change defaultviewhelperheader.php which I have assumed needs to go here:
templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\default\helpers\

I have successfully changed events_css.css in: templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\geraint\assets\css\

Put all helper overrides in regardless of the layout name

templates\mytemplate\html\com_jevents\helpers\
