HTML, javascript removed from Event Description

Hello,

I've just installed JEvents 1.5.4 on Joomla 1.5.17 and I think it's ideal for my needs. However, I'm not able to include javascript code such as "onclick" in the event description inside links. For example, the onclick in <a href="gohere.com" onclick="window.open('http://gohere.com')">Go</a> disappears.

I'm using the JCE editor. I'm creating the event as the super-admin. I've confirmed that my filter parameters in the Articles allows me to include code such as "onclick" and "onmouseover" in a Joomla article.

However, when entering code in an JEvents description via the "Edit Code" function in JCE and saving, something is stripping the javascript. Same issue appears in tinyMCE and "no editor". I believe I've narrowed the issue down to something in JEvents.

(Note that JCE has a feature that allows insertion of "onclick" into descriptions, but the event is placed inside the p tag. That won't work for me.)

There is a config option to allow this in JEvents 1.5.5 in the meantime search for "JREQUEST_ALLOWHTML" and change it to "JREQUEST_ALLOWRAW" in the file administrator/components/com_jevents/controllers/icalevent.php

I'm having the exact same problem - my HTML is being stripped from the description in the module, but I don't want it to do that.

Obviously I'm running a much newer version of JEvents, so I'm guessing the option to allow this has been already added?

I can't find it - where do I set this option please?

There is an option in the Edit Event tab of the JEvents Configuration which says:

Allow unfiltered descriptions.

I found this option under JEvents -> Configuration -> Component tab.

However, toggling this option has not changed the fact that the module "Latest Events" is still stripping out the HTML.

Any ideas?

Simple. I have a Latest Events module running on my website, and I want the HTML for the event description to be included in the output. Instead, right now it's stripping out the HTML from the event description.

I don't want it to do that. I'm using the tag {content(100|...)}.

I've just realised that the shortening of the description may pose a problem if I'm not stripping out the HTML tags, but for argument's sake, is it possible to prevent it from removing the html tags from the content?

You can't safely truncate the description without removing the HTML tags otherwise:
1. the tags count towards your letter/word count
2. you will probably end up with unbalanced/illegal HTML e.g. a table that isn't closed etc.

I'm aware of this - in fact I pointed that out in my own reply higher up. I do understand the risk in truncating content which includes html tags, and I therefore also understand why you're stripping the HTML.

Nonetheless, my question remains: is there a way? If not, please direct me to the file and line number(s) in module the code which deals with stripping the HTML and displaying the content.

My thoughts are to still strip the HTML, but to allow specific tags (and exclude them from the crop count), such as p, br, strong etc.
