Short URLs to repeat events
by Paz » Thu Nov 24, 2011 5:16 am
Greetings,
Our site uses JEVEnts for repeat events which essentially dont change.
I would like to have a URL that could be something like /events/<event name>.html which will always link to the most recent event until endDate and then afterwards return the following event.
I can use it for attendance registrations in a good way.
If this is not already somehow possible, I would be interested in being quoted on this work rather than wait to see if the community wants it. Not sure how to tender that, but it would be worth my while if the price was right.

Did you take a look at the improvements in SEF URLs in JEvents 2.1? An Event detail in the new scheme will be something like:
www.domain.com/eventdetail/1646/-/event-title
and you are able even to replace the "eventdetail" text with your own wording:
http://www.jevents.net/en/jevents-15-to ... -or-higher
www.domain.com/eventdetail/1646/-/event-title
and you are able even to replace the "eventdetail" text with your own wording:
http://www.jevents.net/en/jevents-15-to ... -or-higher

You can essentially create a redirect as well with the built in Joomla Redirect should you only wish to do it for a few big events for instance.

Thanks for that, but doesnt that mean I have to recreate the redirect every time? I have 3 weekly events. It would be a pain to keep creating redirects.
Thanks.

Yes you would.
I would advise using the new SEF in JEvents 2.1.2

This is how you would do this
Create a link like
/icalevent.detail/0/0/0/1562/-/youreventtitle
Where 1562 is the event id and NOT the repeat id.
This will then give you the next available repeat.
