Translations have to be put in the language subdirectory of joomla!!
.
In case of a dutch translation it would have to be put in:
/root of your joomla installation/language/nl-NL/
(for the front-end part)
/root of your joomla installation/administrator/language/nl-NL/
(for the backend part)
I included a translation for jEvents 1.5 RC made by joomrolf
(see viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1556)

Hi shuram, we already have a dutch translation. Just check our downloads section and you will find the Dutch translation for JEvents.

I always get the 'Post-it' with: The Translation of the JEvents Component in this language is incomplete - please consider completing the translation and contributing it to the project. How can I remove this because not only I get this (the developer) but all my other users too. I figured translating (further) the dutch.php file in the languages ()/components/com_events/language/) folder?
