calendars based on groups
by paoladicairano » Thu Jan 07, 2010 3:12 pm
Hi!
I have installed jomsocial+JS Multi Profile Types (JSPT)+Jevents latest versions.
I have created two groups A - B.
I have to create two distintive calendars with categories to be filled by the two groups.
Group A must create events for calendar A but view calendar B and group B must create events for calendar B but can view calendar A.
I tried to figure out how to achieve all this but I'm now able to constrain calendars to a certain member group (A or B).
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.
PS: can I use the italian file translation made for 1.5.3 also for 1.5.4 version? Is it compatible?

In JEvents 1.5.4 you can assign event creation permissions to specific users so that they can create events in certain calendars and/or categories.
Does this help?

Hi!
The groups of users I have created are based on JomSocial Profile Type (JSPT) and are two distinctive groups with users. It lets me assign applications to groups but I need the two groups to use the same application but in different ways.
For example: I have group A and Group B and I need to let these groups to use two different calendars. Group A can't add events in group B and can only create envents in its own group. The same thig is for Group B. When users register choose what group they belong and I want them to have a link only to their own calendar. These 2 groups are all registered rights but I want to make a division between them. I don't know if JEvents 1.5.4 will let me do this...please help
And this is the reason why I thought to make a copy of the component so I can use it to assign to the groups two different application that work in separate ways.
Plus I have installed the jomsocial plugin to have the label events in a profile but it doesn't work nad I have an error page with:
500 - CC USER ID REQUIRED
Thanks. Paola

It is not possible to install a component twice in Joomla I'm afraid.
Do you have too many users that you can't set their permissions individually?

Hi!
I would like to set a semiautomatic system without an administrator setup of users.
This site could have many ursers in the future and my clients don't want to manage the system.
So if I can achieve my goal is better than manage the site by myself. I should let the users register, enable them from the backend and everytime add them to a calendar or another.
So you suggest to let users register and wait until ad administrator give them the permission to activate their account and in the same time the administrator must activate and assign the user to a specific calendar right? I must find the way to achieve all this
I have another problem with Jevent plugin for jomsocial.
I have installed it and set it as core because I want it to appear in every jomsocial user but when I click on the events label on the toolbar I receive a page with an error 500 - CC USER ID REQUIRED and I can't see anything.
Plus when I try to delete a jomsocial user I receive this error:
Warning: require_once(/var/www/virtual/nomedominio/htdocs/testpaola/administrator/components/com_community/libraries/core.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/virtual/ferrarinicola.com/htdocs/testpaola/plugins/community/jevents.php on line 8
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/var/www/virtual/nomedominio/htdocs/testpaola/administrator/components/com_community/libraries/core.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/virtual/nomedominio/htdocs/testpaola/plugins/community/jevents.php on line 8
and I must disable the plugin to delete an user.
Plus when I use the plugin for jomsocial I can specify categories + additional categories but without divisions among groups of users (it reads them as all registered) so I can't specify the category for group A or a category for group B.
I have the same error in the 1.5.3 version and the new one 1.5.4. I use the same plugin and I don't know if there is a new version.
Please help me..I now it's a mess but I have to find a way to manage all this.
Thanks Paola

1. Assigning permissions - you could write a small script an cronjob to do this.
2. 500 error - this is strange. What user profile are you looking at when you click the tab? What is the URL (you can disguise the domain)?
3. Deleting JomSocial user - are you doing this in the backend? I can't recreate this. What sort of user? Do they have events?
Even though I don't know were you are seeing this problem here is a fix. Change line 8 of plugins/community/jevents.php to

Hi!
Thank you for your reply.
1) I'm not able to create this script but if you can do it for me please let me know a quotation. Do you thing that with administrator permissions assigned to certain users divided in groups I can achieve what I nedd for the moment? Doing it manually...?
2) Here is the url:
/index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&task=app&app=jevents&Itemid=53
3) Yes I have tried from the back end and they are jomsocial registered users with or without events.
...I have modified the file you have mentioned but without result

Can you do an experiment with a couple of users - specifying the required permissions. If you can get it to work we can look at writing a script to keep the permissions up to date
2) Here is the url:
/index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&task=app&app=jevents&Itemid=53
That is the address before clicking - what do you see in the address bar after clicking it (the page should redirect automatically)

...I have chacked via ftp in folder /htdocs/testpaola/plugins/community/jevents/
but I have found out only the favicon.pngshould I upload the other files via ftp?
My mistake you dont need jevents in the path (I have it in a subfolder for development purposes.

1)I'll try the new version of your component and figure out a proper system.
2) this is the url that I get when I click on EVENTS in the toolbar of a profile without any redirection. Plus I can't see the events the user adds in a calendar in the profile view after the grey area even if I have added the application among MY Applications and set the plugin as core.
I have uninstalled JomSocial Profile Types and Now I can see JEvents application and events created by that user but when I go to click on Events in the toolbar of the user or in the Jomsocial frontpage I have the error I mentioned.
PLease let me know.
