found the problem - when I changed the namespace I did a search and replace (case sentitive) and there was one place where Facebook was spelled as facebook.

When editing properties, and the plugin is active, the layout is still messed up, if it's inactive, it shows correctly.
When I edit an event from the front, I now get this error instead:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class FacebookApiException in /plugins/jevents/jevsendfb/facebook_php-sdk/base_facebook.php on line 132

Now it works, backend looks good, and it asked for a new username password, and both creating and editing an event goes through without hickups.
