Latest Event Module - Shows Created Date / SEF URL Rules

We are having issues with the display of JE Latest Events Module, and after searching the forums and trying different configuration options, here is what we have:
DISPLAY DATE - For one, the date displayed on module is the date the event was created and not the start or end date of the event listing. I verified the event dates and used several parameters in the custom display and I am unable to change the date. Any ideas?
SORT ORDER - The sort order appears alphabetically reversed. I am looking for it to display by first upcoming event. I assume this is because the date is all the same, which would likely default to alpha. Any ideas?
SEO / SEF - When clicking on an event module link, the link inherits the published modules of the K2 Component Category versus the JEvents Component and by doing so jumps to website.com/events (JEvents SEF URL) to website.com/component/jevents/eventdetail/4/37/ (JEvents Non SEF URL). Is there a way to direct to the JEvents SEF URL for the component?

In attempting a fix, I did not realize I had enabled an option that caused the SEF URL issue. The display date issue still remains.

Thank you for your response.
I have seen that page. And after reconsideration, I used one of the samples and was able to obtain the desired function.
But, I am still unable to modify the desired sort order. Currently, the 2013 events show up first, and this is after modifying the component as well as the module, neither of which have an impact.
Any ideas?

That is possible down to your configuration.
Can you please post screen shots of your modules config?

I should note that, while the "Sort reverse" configuration is set to yes in the screenshot, it is actually selected to no in the current configuration. Also, there is no cache or gzip used on the current development install.

Hello,
Your problem is your display mode.
You have set it to show the most recently created events?
Try mode 3?
Regards

Tony,
Thank you very much. While I had tried many of the various options, including display mode, not having them set properly will not result in a working example. I used Display Mode 3, as suggested, and also modified the custom format string as referenced below. I appreciate your assistance. Thank you!
I have used all the events and calendar systems, but this one is the most robust and intuitive.
${title}<br>${startDate(%A %B %e)}[!a:, ${startDate(%l:%M %p)} - ${endDate(%l:%M %p)}]
