How to configure access about Joomla ACL

Hi all,

at the first sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand my question :-)

I have installed JEvent and configured a calendar. All works fine, but now we have 5 categories and only one person have to create/modify appointments of one specified category.

My problem is, I can't configure JEvent to make sure that the user "Testuser A" can only add/modify appointments for category "A" (and "Testuser B" only "B" ...)

What I have done is to create one access level "Appointments" and five groups "A, B, C, D and E"). All testusers are member of one group, but all testusers are not able to add/modify appointments in the own category.

How can I find a documentation about the configuration about that?

Hello Daneil,

This is Joomla!'s ALC which is controlling it.

You would want to create two user groups

A and B

A can post in Category A
B can post in Category A and B.

You would configure the usergroups permissions within the category manager.

Hi Tony,

thank you for your reply.

I have configured all categories and the testuser can add appointments.

I have given rights within Category A for group "A" and added the Testuser A to group "A".

After login testusers can create events, but the testuser A can choose all categories and not only category A. :-(

I'm a little bit confused how I have to configure groups and categories to grant only rights for testuser A.

Do you have a checklilst to grant rights for specific users regarding groups and categories?

This is the many joys of the sophisticated Joomla ALC.

If you only have a few users? or you don't need to make it apply to groups.

You can Use our built in Authorised User Mode. Enabled this in the JEvents configuration under Permissions.

Then go to JEvents->Authorised Users and add the users who are allowed to create events and select the categories they are allowed to create in.

Hi Tony,

I have tested the recommended Authorised User Mode and it works.

But it is absolutly not possible with member groups? We have changed all modules to use the Joomla ACL and it would be nice if we can use the same for JEvent.

Anyway, we use the user mode at the moment...

Hello Daniel,

It is possible with the usergroups its just quite complicated configuring it. I suggested authorized usermode as an easy solution.

Can you post screen shots of the permissions of each user user for each category you are trying to configure and explain how it should function.
