Upgrade 2.0 -> 2.0.4

Hi All,

I have a Jevents 2.0 config on J1.7.1 working fairly well, with the RSVPpro bits and pieces as well.. (details of versions as below)

I am trying to upgrade to 2.0.4 - but when I try to upload the 2.0.4 zip file to the site, I get an "Upload Failed" error, and it doesn't get upgraded.

So - I removed Jevents, and then installed 2.0.4 - but lost all of my events. (time to restore my backup - no real issue there)

So - question is - How to upgrade the components sanely ?
(again once details below - from 2.0.4 show me what I need to do - but the question is how without losing data)

Ok - Tried to copy file to server, and extract, and point the installer at the web server filesystem..

Same error...

"-1 - An error has occurred.
Copy failed

Return to Control Panel"

Ok - Panic over.
Found the issue (sorta)

I did the following..

cd /mysite/joomla/../
i.e. - above my joomla install area, and then did...

chmod -R g+rwx

the group is my apache user - so, bottom line make sure apache user has full read/write access to all Joomla files.

I will admit, I thought that I had already done this....
