You can create an ical export menu item where users can select categories and years they are interested in.
For notifications - these only go to the event administrator (and category admin if you configure this option).
If you want email notifications to go to your registered users then you need the Events Notifications addon available to silver members of the Jevents club. This can be configured to notify different groups of users when events are created, changed or unpublished. Also users can select categories they are interested in via an associated module to get notifications of new events by category.

Thanks so much for the info! Okay, I've created the menu item and was trying to export the year 2011 but get this error:
No webpage was found for the web address: http://rptworship.com/index.php?option= ... cb6d8f2d0e
Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): The file or directory could not be found.

I just get an empty calendar file - are all your events private?

The calendar menu item itself is for "Registered" - but each event in the Calendar is "public". And for some reason, now I'm not even able to do what I did the other day (when I exported just 1 event) - I'm getting:
No webpage was found for the web address: http://rptworship.com/index.php?option= ... d=46&icf=1
Error 6 (net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND): The file or directory could not be found.
If you want to log in to test, I have a test log in of:

I think you deleted a site template but the old one is still assigned to some menu items?
