location plugin

Postby ozi » Thu May 12, 2011 1:33 am

A plugin that inserts add location fields in to the submit an event page. Not have to use the locations manager in a different window/popup.

So that a user submitting an event has to always insert info into the address fields on the submit event form. Also a "map it" button to place location on google map.

I just feel this will be easier for users that just want to quickly add their own or community events, and not have to use the location manager.

JReviews uses this method..it is so much easier for users.

this is an interesting idea - the downside is that the same venue could end up in the system many times and searching for events by venue/location would not be meaningful.

I understand.. but you could still search by location. Couldn't you offer 2 options in the config.. Either use Location Manager, or direct input of location fields for each event?

It is just a thought.. As I find that some inexperienced users get confused about inputting their location for a simple get together at say a local park or something.

I feel most people will search for an event.. or the location (city) or type of event. Not the actual venue.

However even if the venue is searched.. it will just give a list of all the events at that venue anyway.

Just a thought.
