Sending e-mail messages to the invitees or attendees

Postby Olekeh » Sat Mar 20, 2010 9:59 am

It would be a nice feature to be able to send an e-mail to the invitees or attendees of an event, with practical updated information or changes in the event. This is a feature for the organizer or creator of the event. It would be nice to have the options to send it to the invitees (not yet accepted), all the invites, the attendees, or all. With JomSocial it could be a message instead of an e-mail - or all e-mail.

Good points - interesting about the JomSocial message (I was thinking about that as a mechanism yesterday).

Can you add these via the Wishlists menu item at the top since that system is easier to track and can get other people's comments and votes.

Just a thought ... if this does make it to being a feature;

1. Will it handle large numbers (Joomla/Jomsocial users)?
2. If the number of emails exceed the server limit would it just hang up or queue and try to resend later?
3. Would it send just a notification of an event or the full details?

If this happens it would almost replace a dedicated mailing list component and cut the work in half (mailing an event and adding it to the calendar). Just a BBS notification style email isnt so bad.

The idea would be like the reminders system where the messages are bunched up to send in batches by a cronjob.

It would send a message you would customise including a link to the event detail.

But to make sure you're on the same wavelength - this would be a message that is sent to invitees and attendees not to a general list of site users.
