I would like to second the request with some urgency

Acajoom now is turning into jnews - but the basic principle is the same. JNews can pick up any new articles from Joomla and mail it fully automated (quite amazing for a lay person like me).

I really would like it to pick up any new events as well, as most or our users will not (be knowledgable enough to) use RSS.
