Calendar views

What I would find useful is if there was a way to create calendar 'views' that could then be chosen to display specific events. For instance, I could set up a view and select categories A, D, G, and R to display. Then, in the modules or in the menu settings I could select that view, rather than having to select each category each time I create a menu item or a module instance. Ideally, this would not replace the settings now, but be another way to select categories. I hope I am making sense.

Also along with this, I'd like to be able to display a drop down list right on the calendar (optionally) that would list out these views, making it trivial for users to change calendars at will.

A good idea.

I'm thinking of changing the was we specify categories for menus and modules. For the managed locations and people addons I've found a way to select these dynamically so there would be no constraints on numbers of categories - I could conceivably add a facility to name these groups of categories.

Yeah, that would work. Whatever best fits in with the schema you're working with and where you want to take the extension. This new version is just so incredibly good!!
