iPad hover simulation

Postby dpages » Tue Apr 10, 2012 9:59 am

Not sure if this is the same for Android but, as the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch don't have a proper hover behaviour, it doesn't seem possible to go from an event tooltip popup in the monthly view to the event itself.

To clarify - in a desktop browser, you can mouseover links to events in the monthly view to bring up a popup, and if you click again, you are then taken to the detail page for that event.

If you go to a monthly view on an iPad, you can click once on a link event within the calendar which brings up the mouseover popup. Additional clicks then do nothing.

I know it's a known problem with the iOS devices - there's a suggested solution that I found here - http://blog.0100.tv/2010/05/fixing-the-hover-event-on-the-ipadiphoneipod/ if it's of any help.

It does work but what is confusing is that the 'click' is on the original link and not on the 'hover' popup. On a normal PC the focus stays on the original link so its quite clear what to do.

Did you try the new 'smartphone' layout? This is designed to complement the other club layouts and will only be activated for smartphone type devices (e.g. phones, tablets and 'pods').

I didn't see the Smartphone layout - I'll definitely give that a go.

I see what you mean - a second click on the event link within the calendar takes you to the event. Probably makes more sense for the popup to be disabled on the first click for iOS devices, in that case.

Thanks
