Which features should have a plugin for Community Builder?
by jdgf » Fri May 08, 2009 6:31 pm
Hello, maybe it is possible to integrate JEvents with Community Builder. Geraint wants to know, which features should have a plugin for Community Builder. There are my proposals:
Please add your wishes to the list.
Regards
Dietmar
- -It must be possible to register events in JEvents.
- Every member should be able to see in a list, which events are inserted by an other member.
- Each member should be allowed to note events.
- With each event should be indicated which members have noted this event.
- In JEvents should be a button "Back to CB" for CB-Members.
Please add your wishes to the list.
Regards
Dietmar

Good idea! My number #1 thing would be to have a calendar per user, automatically. This can then be used for subscribing to events or marking when you are not available, etc.

Second follow up!
Please expand on "noting events". What would that do?

Register/subscribe to events or series of events is must-have - user can register to event/s, and then show them to other users.
RSEvents and EventList already have this future.

You mean published lists of who is registered for an event?

Hi,
I definitely see a seamless integration with Community Builder as a MUST. I have the following in mind:
- NEW: Birthdays of my connections in CB should be displayed in the calendar automatically (given my connections allow it)
- IMPLEMENTED: Anybody can add an event to the calendar --> NEW: the action of adding/postponing/deleting should be registered in a tab in CB
- NEW: send invitations to your CB connections (preferably also to groups of connections - I have put a feature request to CB for grouping connections) via email or private message from within JEvents calendar
- NEW: management and follow-up of these invitations i.e. remind/postpone/delete should also be possible from within JEvents, preferably with a guestlist output showing the status of each invitee
- NEW: meeting coordination: send an inquiry to your connections with the option to indicate which of the proposed dates for an event are possible; this is similar to what www.doodle.com offers
Thanks for considering these new functionalities!
Best regards, Raphael

Great idea. Administrator should be able to choose members or levels of membership that can add/edit events. It would not be good if all members can add events for many groups.

Another idea: a plugin for CB with creates a tab at the profile. It shows all events the user registered. (There is such a plugin for Eventlist)

For now I'd just go for something with the same capabilities of the Eventlist plugin which allows for CB members to show their events as part of their profiles. Simple and neat.
Other things like registation and tickets for events may be more the province of a plugin for CBSubs which already has payment gateway capabilities, pre-existing compatability with things like DOCMan and VirtueMart so they can cover the payments without the hassle of writing yet another gateway, which is what RedEvent is wasting thier time on with RedEvent v2 -- a everything including the kitchen sink events calendar that sorta kinda works if you think the way they do and never want to let a user near it.
It's better for us and you to do one, two or three plugins that function very well rather than one big one you're always fixing or adding features to. Just my 2 bits worth.

I have an filter that allows you to only show the events created by a user and am about to start on an invite/rsvp addon so I will soon be able to write a CB plugin that can show:
- Events created by a user
- Events a user has confirmed they will be attending
