SOLVED - Can't Create New Event

JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.
Forum rules
Please include as much detail in any test or bug reports for JEvents 1.5 as possible.

First of all, check if you are running the latest available version of Joomla! and JEvents. Posts for issues, where both systems are not updated, will be ignored.

We need the following at least:

* PHP version (e.g. 5.2.5). Note: Support for PHP4 is discontinued.
* Joomla! version
* JEvents version
* Web Server software (Apache or IIS with version number if possible)
* Server Operating system (e.g. Linux, Windows, Solaris, Darwin ...)
* Database version
* memory_limit from your phpinfo
* Web browser and version

Please enable error reporting and include any error messages in your posting. You do this via the Joomla Configuration - set "error reporting" to "maximum" on the Server tab.

Finally, please describe the steps required to recreate the problem and also please enable error reporting and give us any error messages generated.

SOLVED - Can't Create New Event

Postby daycom » Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:22 pm

Using JEvents v1.5.5
Joomla v1.5.25 install
using JCE editor v1.5.7.4

domain: http://www.nashvilleparent.com

I can't create a new event. When I try to place the cursor in the text area to type the event details nothing happens. Also the SAVE, APPLY, and CANCEL buttons in the upper right are non responsive.

Is there a way to upgrade to JEVENTs 2.0 without loosing all my configurations, events calendars, etc.?

I would rather not have to perform extensive maintenance to get this component to work again as we are in the process of converting our site to WordPress. I've tried to do a repair database table on myPHPadmin in Cpanel, but that didn't work either.

Any help would be most appreciated.

since when can't you add new events?

Upgrading from JEvents 1.5.5 to 2.0 should be seamless, so just install the new 2.0 version and it should work without losing your configurations. Anyway taking a backup is always a good idea.

I just installed a new editor and the problem seems to have gone away. I'll leave it be for now. If it ain't broke, I don't want to fix it.

UNSOLVED...

It worked for the first event I created, but then happened again on the second event. So I installed JEvents 2.0.11 and JCE 2.0.20. Problem still occurs. The New Events text editor window pops open just long enough for me to paste in my event, then the entire editor window grays out and the component becomes unresponsive.

Help.

I don't think so... Here's a more detailed account of what's going on... I've noticed this since my last post.

When I create a new event and the Calendar tab loads, that's when the text area grays out and the component becomes unresponsive. If I refresh the page I see, "<p><br data-mce-bogus="1"></p>" in the text area. If I stop page load BEFORE the calendar tab collapses into the tab, then I can create the event. But If I wait for the tab to load then the text area grays out. I can attach screenshots if you like.

Can you enabled one tab editing on Jevents Component Configuration tab?

See if that resolves your issue.

It worked for the first post. I'll work with it a little more and I continue to have success, I'll let you know.

Thanks!

I've done about 10 new events with no issues. Looks like you can call this issue Solved. I actually prefer the "one tab" usability. I hated clicking on the calendar tab and then back to check the dates... much better this way. Thanks again.
