How do I make a calendar public
JEvents 2.0 was launched over 2 years ago and the latest stable version is version 2.2 which will run on Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5. JEvents 1.5 is therefore no longer actively supported - you should upgrade to JEvents 2.2+ as soon as possible.

How do I make a calendar public
by dman » Fri Jan 30, 2009 3:24 am
I'm using alpha3. I have a calendar which I have marked as public. The events in this calendar are also marked as public. yet when I click the "View Full Calendar" link on my Latest Events list, it asks me to login. Is there something else I need to do to make it so anyone can see the full calendar? Also, if someone clicks on one of the events in the Latest Events list, it also asks for you to login.
Thanks, hope it's just my ignorance!

What menu items do you have pointing to the calendar - I'm guessing only a "manage events" type link.
Therefore I suspect the link is not checking the correct sort - I'll double check.
In the meantime you could create menu item pointing to the calendar proper.

It's not a menu item that's the issue. It's the "Latest Events" plugin. My menu items work perfectly. Under the Configuration settings for the calendar, under the Latest Events tab, I have "Display link to the Calendar Component" set to "Last Line." Clicking that link fails if you are not logged in. Additionally, clicking an item in the list displayed under "Latest Events" fails.

The reason the link doesn't work is due to the type of menu items you have not that the menu items themselves are problematic.
I have fixed this bug in my development version and it will be in the next build.
In the meantime - search through your menu items and find a suitable calendar view. Then look for the menu id (a number) and put this in the "target itemid" field in the latest events module configuration.

Well I found a menu (id 55) so I entered that in the Target Menu Itemid field for Latest Events. It still doesn't seem to work. My link in my menu goes to:
index.php?option=com_jevents&task=month.calendar&Itemid=55
But my "View Full Calendar" link goes to:
index.php?option=com_jevents&task=icalevent.edit&Itemid=56
And the link for an item in the latest events is:
index.php?option=com_jevents&task=icalrepeat.detail&evid=1&Itemid=55&year=2009&month=02&day=12&uid=1233111534evt1+1233111534recur&Itemid=56
Notice that in both itemid=56 which is strange because I set it to 55. But I'm just noticing that the "View Full Calendar" clearly says icalevent.edit...
Thanks for your help!
