How to creat US english translation

Hello, I'm using joomla 1.5.2 and jevents 1.5.0 and could not translate this file there and not changing the directory.
Directories:
/ public_html / components / com_jevents / language / en-GB.com_jevents.ini
/ administrator / public_html / components / com_jevents / language / en-GB.com_jevents.ini
Changed both in hand to en-US and nothing appears in translation, or in or on the backend and frontend. The directories are right?

The active translation files live in /languages and administator/languages the files you are looking at are only there for installation purposes.
