In case you did not notice the latest version of this file, you can find an updated language package for the Spanish language in the Downloads section.

So I shouldn't have to install a specific language pack for Jevents, right?

Actually you have to. JEvents only provide the English language out of the box. For other languages you have to check the downloads area and install the language package.
The Spanish language package for JEvents 1.5.5 is:

After installing the language pack, is it only the language code in the xml file that needs to be changed?
