mini cal problems

I started having problems with the jevents I was using with Joomla 1.0.15 so I uninstalled it and installed jenevts 1.4.2.

I installed com__events_1.4.2, mod_events_cal_1.4.2-1 and mod_events_latest_1.4.2-1.

Everything seemed to go OK but I am unable to get the mini cal or latest events to display on the web page.

Not sure what version of php my provider (site5.com) is running but I assume it is that latest version.

Egg on my face I hadn't published Event calendar or latest Events!!!
